Horse Country
I was in Ocala Florida over the weekend and found myself atop a beautiful black Paso Fino mare. The Pasa Fino breed is famous for it's lateral gait and refined response to cues offering the smoothest possible ride. They say they are like the cadillac of all horses. Well, as I took her around the arena with stirrups too long, she began to get out of control. Zurella, the trainer, told me to stop and as I pulled back the reins the horse reared up, I tried to hold on but could not stand in the stirrups, so my feet pressed against her body and she kicked up her back legs throwing me forward. I rolled up off the ground as I heard screams coming from the crowd and assured everyone I was okay!
I am a bit sore today, glad to be up and about though, and back in Texas...at least for a day. Then it's New York New York!
The highlight of the weekend was definitely visiting the Gypsy Vanner horse farm. I plan to have two and a wagon of my own one day and travel across the country with them.
