Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday and our tradition continued strong with a vegan feast enjoyed with family and friends, followed by a song circle lasting late into the night, ending with a big bonfire out in the woods and a hill country sunrise.

Happy Halloween!

Horse Country

I was in Ocala Florida over the weekend and found myself atop a beautiful black Paso Fino mare. The Pasa Fino breed is famous for it's lateral gait and refined response to cues offering the smoothest possible ride. They say they are like the cadillac of all horses. Well, as I took her around the arena with stirrups too long, she began to get out of control. Zurella, the trainer, told me to stop and as I pulled back the reins the horse reared up, I tried to hold on but could not stand in the stirrups, so my feet pressed against her body and she kicked up her back legs throwing me forward. I rolled up off the ground as I heard screams coming from the crowd and assured everyone I was okay!
I am a bit sore today, glad to be up and about though, and back in Texas...at least for a day. Then it's New York New York!
The highlight of the weekend was definitely visiting the Gypsy Vanner horse farm. I plan to have two and a wagon of my own one day and travel across the country with them.

Vote for Obama!

Please people, friends, get out there and make a difference for our country and our future. EVERYONE must VOTE! EVERYONE makes a difference!!! This means YOU.

Abominably, Palin actively promotes the brutal and unethical aerial hunting of wolves and bears. She proposed a bounty of $150 for the left leg of freshly killed wolves and passed a bill making the killing easier, even though Alaskans voted against it.

Obama will help us. McCain and Palin absolutely will not. Please help us help ourselves by getting up and voting. The time is NOW!

Thank you.

Colorado peaks

Colorado seeds of change

I decide and then
make the wish and blow
but never tell
for only I will ever know

As each seed from the dandelion
floats through the mountain air
my wish travels through the universe
and for the answer I prepare

Knowing it is coming
expecting, anticipating
graciously excepting

Then only to let go
to make a another wish
and watch another hundred flowers grow
The circle coming back to this

Always careful what to ask for
searching within my heart
considering the consequences
before summoning the start

Set Sail

Been out sailing
floating
drifting
into the wind
as the moon is setting
had a direction
a map, a compass, a destination
determination
through storms arrived but returned to the sea
solid shore couldn't hold me
couldn't satisfy me

Set sail to the west with no one place in mind this time
sailed on the wind
now look where I am
lost in the ocean's blue endlessness
accompanied only by my own restlessness

Restlessness

Restlessness

Putting out this sail again and waiting for the wind
my only friend
trusting
Trusting.
She will know and take me where I ought to go
may she blow
may she blow blow

Blow wind blow

She carries me away
as the sunrise
brings a new day
a new day
a new day

as she winks welcoming the night

The Wind

The wind blew my door open this evening
and a cool breeze blew in
this I was not expecting
kinda like I was not expecting to be charmed
but I have been
and my heart flutters

To bee

I am a bee
but I'm not a queen bee
have grown to feel the need
to build a hive of my own
so I must ROAM

The day has come where I must fly
time to leave this happy hive
gather my thoughts off I fly
early in the morning
fly into the horizon
fly

I'm gonna find the means to be the queen bee
I'm gonna roam until I find my home
I'm gonna fly til I find where I belong

Buzzin around flower to flower
plant to plant hour to hour
I could fly any where in the world if I only had a place to go
a hive of my own
a home

Found a safe place to rest
rested for a while
when I opened my eyes again the sun was rising
it was a rising and a shining

ooooo ooo oooo

Gettin colder day by day
winter drawin nearer
we bees must build a hive to stay alive
we need each other in the winter time
we need each other to survive

Find some drones some worker bees
so we can make some honey
and all of em can feed me royal jelly
but I must beware not to get stung
beware where they're coming from

I'm gonna find the means to be the queen bee
I'm gonna roam until I find my home
I'm gonna fly til I find where I belong

The Muse

People saying no. no. no.

They don't know.

Come on with the yes!Yes! YES!

Hmmm mmmm mmmm

The time has come now

and we'll be sittin there
I'll be in that rocking chair
on the porch
to talk it all through.

Cause I love you.

I do

Austin's mid May

Austin living.

Humid today.

Winter rests as the clouds almost touch the ground.

Walking through clouds.

Breathing clouds.

Damp heavy clouds and breathes.

The sun reclines under a white blanket

as I play the mandolin and bow the bass.
